These Dutch students built a car out of plants

Lina is different from the vehicles we know because it’s made out of plants. These Dutch students introduced a revolutions in the Dutch vehicle authority’s list creating a car that not only has close to zero emissions but is also made out of biodegradable materials. Yasmin Amel Gharib, P.R. Manager of Lina says “We came up with the project because we saw the industry now tries to make cars more efficient by using aluminium and carbon fiber to build the structure of the car. We think our material has an advantage because it needs less energy to produce than the others”. Lina is made out of flex and it has very strong fibers. “Lina is made out of flex and it has very strong fibers. The outer layers of our sandwich panel is made out of flex and the inner layer is made out of sugar cane and it has a honey comb structure to give it strength”.

Lina is an electric powered city car that reaches u to 85km/h and weighs about 300kg. The status of Lina is that it’s finished. “We are standing with Lina at events and that’s how we raise money to build our next car. We are certified by the Netherlands vehicle authority and now we have a license plate and that means we are legal to drive on the road”, Says Yasmin.
